Grass Roots Jr. Golf Foundation is the 501c3 tax-exempt charity, approved by The First Tee National Organization (www.thefirsttee.org) to operate as a local chapter; The First Tee of Snohomish County (TFTSC).

The First Tee students progress through 5 certification levels (TARGET, PLAYer, PAR, BIRDIE and EAGLE) combining golf skill, golf knowledge, etiquette, and The First Tee Life Skills Curriculum.

Students ages 5-7 enjoy a modified curriculum level called TARGET.

Students ages 8 and up start at the PLAYer Level certification. There are six core lessons in each level. Students certify at each level through a combination of golf skill, written testing, and the demonstration of Life Skill understanding. Classes meet the same day each week during a sesson.

There are Spring (6 weeks), Summer (8 weeks), and Fall (6 weeks) sessions. A "Pre-Season" progam is available for free, for those that enroll in a class session before February 1.

The First Tee registration has a one time fee of $20 per family for all first time students. The tuition for each class in a session is $100 per student. Scholarships are available to families with need up to 75% of the class tuition. Students enrolled and active in the Birdie Level classes and higher can enjoy reduced rates on practice balls and junior rounds at local affiliate courses. These incentives increase with each certification level.

TFTSC also offers 4 day Golf Camps for $100 per student. Scholarships for camps are available up to a 50%. Camps include a total of 6 hours of instruction on putting, pitching, full swing and ettiquette over the first 3 days. The last day of the program includes a 9 hole round of golf at a local course.

Completion of a Development Camp, or a Personal Golf Readiness lesson is recommended before registration into The First Tee Life Skills Program.
