The First Tee of Snohomish County

Young people do not automatically act with integrity or demonstrate sportsmanship. The acquisition of values is often a by-product of a series of complex processes that evolve from individuals' experiences.

The First Tee Life Skills Education programs teach participants a set of life skills which allow them to face challenges at home, school, and at play in a constructive manner. The inherent values, etiquette expectations, rules dependant on self-responsibility, and the physical and mental challenges of golf makes it a unique "classroom" for developing these Life Skills and personal values.

The First Tee® programs provide a unique, seamless integration of a character development curriculum (containing 9 important life skills) which is delivered with quality golf skills instruction.  Our teaching philosophy is to always keep our program active, fun, safe, and meaningful.

Our primary program training sites are the Lynnwood Golf Course (located on the campus of Edmonds Community College) and the Choice Turf Driving Range (located on Marsh Road, just off Highway 9 west of the Snohomish Airport).

We also have usage agreements with Kenwanda, Battle Creek, Snohomish, and Ballinger Lake golf courses.

Our First Tee programs have three layers of service:

  1. Life Skills Education Classes
  2. Development Camps
  3. and Outreach Programs

Information about The First Tee Snohomish County

Grass Roots Jr. Golf Foundation, "doing business as", The First Tee Snohomish County, received its 501c3 charitable status from the IRS on September 22, 2004. There are over 200 The First Tee Chapters in the USA. Other Washington Chapters are Olympia, Greater Seattle, Tri-Cities and Yakima.

All of our board members are volunteers with a passion for youth development, and an interest in the game of golf. We are constantly seeking volunteer help with delivering our programs and providing training for coaches and other helpers.

We are currently seeking donations to our 21 Club. Each patron in the 21 Club helps to fund one student in our program for a year, so any child can enjoy our services regardless of their family's ability to pay.
